Come celebrate the season with the Palos Verdes Symphonic Band, which will present its annual Holiday Concert, Wonder and Joy, on Sunday, December 4th at 5:00 PM in the Frances Young Hall at the South Coast Botanic Garden, 26300 Crenshaw Boulevard, in the Palos Verdes Peninsula. The program consists of traditional Christmas, winter, and Hanukkah favorites, including Morton Lauridsen’s beautiful O Magnum Mysterium.
The band is especially honored to feature guest musician James Miller, Associate Principal Trombone with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, who will solo on Lars-Erik Larsson’s Concertino for Trombone, Op.45. Mr. Miller is a graduate of Julliard and has held his position with the LA Phil since 1999. He also performs in a number of classical, jazz, rock, ska, and Latin groups, most notably Yo-Yo Ma’s Silk Road Ensemble.
Tickets are only $10 each, with free admission for children 12 years of age and under, and are available at the Botanic Garden just prior to concert time.
The Palos Verdes Symphonic Band, under the direction of Christine Hayes, consists of 60 local musicians dedicated since 1962 to bringing the best in concert band music to the South Bay community. For more information, you may call the band at 310-792-8286.
