First Rehearsal Debrief
Hello all!
Thank you for a good first rehearsal and working through the challenges of the alternate rehearsal site. Based on the sight reading, I am anticipating a solid set of upcoming concerts. The music should be just fine after a few more rehearsals.
There will be an upcoming email with more details about next rehearsal’s itinerary, directions to the rehearsal site, the repertoire list, etc. Until then, here are some brief thoughts for the weekend:
A new seating arrangement is forthcoming that should improve accessibility and ensemble balance, based off feedback from the last rehearsal. Look for a visual diagram in an upcoming email.
Upper woodwinds – If you could please give mm. 107-129 in American Salute some extra attention in the upcoming weeks. This section is a bit tricky and the only one I’m a little concerned about.
When you have a moment, please listen to a recording of Joplin’s The Chrysanthemum before looking at your written parts. Here is one example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IohzsG6lWQQ.
On the topic of listening to music, here is the YouTube playlist for our concert repertoire: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLMUfU3-kMXue_02xHd5Lso9rVR1WizOXU. Enjoy!
